How you know Karina: Twitter

What are your every day, must-reads, online or off?
I follow a ridiculous number of blogs, but I particularly love Domestic Sluttery, A Thrifty Mrs, Dork Adore and The High Tea Cast. I’m editor of The Bag Lady, which is part of the Aigua Media network, so I tend to spend a lot of time reading the other blogs too.

You’re a social media guru. I know a lot of people and businesses don’t ‘get’ Twitter and Pinterest. Why is social media an important part of any marketing strategy?
Social media gives small businesses the edge. It’s a place where everyone is on a level playing field, so you don’t have to spend a fortune to compete with the big guys. It also gives your business a feeling of authenticity and openness to customers. Studies show that people trust brands that have a social media presence more.

What are your five favorite Twitter accounts to follow, and why?
@Athriftymrsuk, @domesticsluts, @judy_jay, @love_london, @shinykatie. They’ve all either had an impact on my career, inspire me or just fill my day with joy.

If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say?
All those things that make you ‘cool’ at school don’t really matter once you leave, and being individual and independent becomes a good thing. Also, being nice reaps a lot of rewards, and learning becomes something you WANT to do when you get past 25.

Your perfect day. What would it look like?
I’m really bad at relaxing and not working. But my perfect day would be at a spa (Ragdale Hall is heaven) for a day without my phone with my mum and sister, followed by dinner and a film with my fiancé. Boring but so relaxing!

Thanks so much for sharing, Emma!
