Karina Chronicles

Meet the Blogger: Dawn Lucy Ross

This week, we are excited to introduce you to Dawn Lucy of the fabulous blog Fashion Should be Fun - Style Over 40. Dawn Lucy got into blogging because she wanted to create a blog for women her age that she would want to read, is uplifting and supportive, and is just plain fun! We think she has more than succeeded, and we are happy to have her in the Karina family. Read more below, and, as always, you can click on any of the photos to shop the Audrey dress she's wearing!

Fashion Should be Fun in the Audrey DressWhat do you do for work besides blogging?

I'm a high school English teacher. I love teaching and the kids are mostly great, but it is a seriously exhausting job sometimes.

What would an ideal Saturday look like for you?

An ideal Saturday would start with blogging time and coffee ... my favorite way to start the day.  I would love time spent with my husband, maybe a day trip to Carmel, with shopping, eating, and exploring.  Then home for play time with our dogs and cat.

How would you describe your personal style?

I'd say my personal style is modern classic with an edge.  I like to add a bit of rocker chic or boho to a look to really make a look my own.

What's your next dream vacation?

My husband and I have created a travel list.  We just got back from a fun trip to Puerto Vallarta. I think our next big trip will be New Zealand or Japan.

Meet the Blogger: Bogi Kenney

We are excited to introduce you to another member of the Karina community - Bogi Kenney of Hampton Roads Fashion & Style. If you've been following us for awhile, you know Bogi to be a classic beauty who always effortlessly pulls together timeless looks. From classic pumps and clean blazers, paired with our dresses of course, we just love her polished style!

How did you get into blogging and what do you love about it?

Originally, blogging served as a bridge between me being in the United States and my mom in Hungary. Moving onto this side of the pond reduced my personal time with mom dramatically. Fashion and style has always been one of our favorite topics to chit chat about when winding down and this platform allowed us to continue that. Plus, mom got to see her daughter and give me feedback on style, colors, and even posture.

What do you do for work besides blogging?

I work as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and IT at a manufacturing company. I pound away on excel spreadsheets, prepare reports and presentations, and do analytical work. And of course I do my best to keep my boss' calendar straight and make sure that he gets on the right plane at the right time.

What would an ideal Saturday look like for you?

I try my best to do what I love the most at the weekends (not including house cleaning and laundry of course). If the weather is good to us, I get up early and we start shooting for the blog as soon as the sun comes up. After that, Rick and I wind down with a good cup of cappuccino and catch up with each other's lives. If it truly is an ideal Saturday, then my husband is off work and we head out to the local farmer's market, take a bike ride alongside the beach, and finish off the afternoon at a local restaurant.

Sounds like the perfect Saturday to us, too! Any other hobbies you would like to share?

I absolutely love, love experimenting in the kitchen. I find myself browsing through recipes on Pinterest quite a lot and my dear husband gets to be the "taste master."

Doesn't sounds like a bad job at all!

What are your favorite Karina styles and why?

I adore the Megan, but my all time favorite would have to be the Ruby. The cut is just so utterly feminine and the faux wrap design truly accentuates your shape beautifully, whether your curvy or on the skinny side. The top portion wraps on your chest nicely and the dress sits in place and looks flattering even if your breasts double in size. The Ruby is a wonderful option for expecting mommies. I feel comfortable, confident and ladylike in the Ruby.

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is classic with some modern elements. For the most part I like to keep my wardrobe filled with clothes that have great fabric quality and designs that can be worn for years to come. I like to complement my "basics" with trendy elements to stay fresh and to push myself out of my comfort zone every so often.

If you could travel anywhere where would it be?

I would love to go back to Kazakhstan and explore the country more. A trip to China and a cruise along the Danube River is also on the bucket list.

Sounds amazing! Thanks, Bogi! Click here to visit her lovely blog, and you can shop the Ruby she's wearing here or by clicking on any of the pics!

What do you do for work?

I'm a marine biologist.

What would an ideal Saturday look like for you?

Warm weather and swimming in the ocean!

What's you favorite Karina style and why?

My new favorite is the Katherine for work - I love the high neck! The Trudy has always been a favorite (especially in a 3/4 sleeve) because the sweetheart neckline is a touch fancier and very flattering.

How would you describe your personal style?

Colorful and playful - I love fun prints!

Do you have any hobbies?

I have recently taken up sewing and I'm learning the process of pattern making. It's interesting to see how something like a Karina dress comes together from so many cool parts.

What's on your travel wish list?

My next big travel dream is Cartagena, Colombia, I hear it's a city full of color and delicious food.
