Tell us what makes your blog different from all the other fashion blogs out there?
Stylish Thought is unique because it’s not just a fashion blog! I like to think of it as a guide for young women navigating through life! I cover everything from how to express your personal style to which men to avoid. It’s campy, funny and I hope very useful!
What are your every day, must-reads, online or off?
Blogs are pretty much my life and some of my every day hangouts include DaniellelaPorte.com, Seth Godin’s blog, Yes and Yes and too many others to list! Offline, I try to read a book a month. I just finished Russell Simmon’s book, Do You!. It was pretty cool and full of common-sense, smack your head advice.
You rock some awesome vintage fashion. How do you look make vintage look great and not like a costume?
Why thank you! I’ve been wearing vintage since I was younger because that’s all we could afford and it just stuck with me. I tend to dress with a theme in mind and go from there. I like to create a look and play off of that by mixing in modern pieces. I think the key is not to dress in head to toe vintage, unless of course that’s the look you’re going for
If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say?
Stop writing in your journal so much and go outside. Stop obsessing about life and start living it. Nothing that you experience is that serious, trust me! Funny because I would tell my 28 year old self all the same things!
Your perfect day. What would it look like?
Me and Andre 3000 swimming in the blue waters of Santorini. A girl can dream, right?! But really, my perfect day would be waking up to pray, fixing a fresh cup of coffee, sitting down to my computer and writing until around lunch time. Meeting with some friends for a mid-day meal and thrift shopping. Working some more. Taking in a night time movie or performance and then heading home to sleep and waking up to do it all over again.
What band/musician/song is playing on repeat for you right now?
I’m always late to the new artists, so I stick with my tried and true favorites. Right now Jill Scott has been filling my spirit with earth-shaking, soul-stirring songs about life, love and womanhood. I swear she must be singing about my life and if so I want my royalties.
