What are your every day, must-reads, online or off?
Facebook updates, my twitter feeds, my horoscope, and my three fave newsletters: Daily Love, TUT – Notes from the Universe, and Lorre White, The Guru of Luxury.
You run AYA Life Travel, a particularly unique travel company. How do your trips and tours differ from traditional ones?
We cater to doing things outside the box and throwing in our creative twists with giveback incentives, either by donation to a charity of choice or doing volunteerism at the destinations. We work hard to relieve the stress of being the all in one, including admin for instructors and holistic practitioners, photographers, creative artists to have a retreat experience that allows them to have their own retreat time and make things affordable with a fuller experience than most prepackaged trips offer. All of our groups are geared towards the small group travel, size 10-20 so that individual service and attention can be given, but that all travellers finish with a well rounded and deeply changing/moving/enlightening experience and a full-filled sense of goodwill.
Why is travel important for business?
Global reach is wonderful by use of the web these days, but face time with clients and other entrepreneurs (if you are one) is important in building your business and your own personal brand and identity. When we take ourselves out of our stress zones, we are more apt to be open to learning – laptops, iPads, and wifi allow us to be able to work in very non-traditional places — i.e. a great beach with a view, perchance!
If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say?
Enjoy being a teenager as much as you can between all of your responsibilities to yourself and others be true, honest, and genuine. Never ever stop learning. Life is meant to be lived – explore!
Your perfect day. What would it look like?
Yoga in the early AM with meditation, a swim, check in online, great lunch with good people or solo in peace, work for another 2 hours, some form of outdoor activity, prepare dinner or enjoy something prepared for me. Then some meditation time, relax time with a loved one and a true 8 hours of sleep…unless it’s a naughty night!
Thanks so much for sharing, Dee!
