How you know Karina?
I have taken Karina dresses to my clients from boutiques that I work closely with for a few years now and they always get a great response, so I decided I should add them to my showroom exhibit! I have yet to meet Karina
What are your every day, must-reads, online or off?
When I have time to read, I always grab a Marie Claire or LUCKY magazine because it is something I can quickly flip through to get inspired with new and modern styles! My Daily Find Chicago is a great online resource for whats happening all over Chicago, so I like to check that out when I have a chance! Emails, Twitter and Shopping Girl’s Facebook page fill up most of the daily reading though
You work as a stylist. How does one know that they need a stylist?
People from all walks of life can really use a stylist! I have clients who despise shopping and have no clue how to put an outfit together. I also have clients who love fashion but just don’t have the time to scour the city for their perfect pieces! I adore my job because I get to work with all different types of people and really love to focus on bringing out my clients personal style! My favorite part about being a stylist is watching a change happen with my clients by bringing out their best style and more importantly, watching that change of confidence come from the inside out!
What are some of the most common fashion ‘mistakes’ you seen people making?
I think the biggest thing is getting stuck in a wardrobe routine that has not changed for years! You may have gotten tons of compliments on how great you look in that dress…but that was 20 years ago! Separating memories from your physical clothing is important!
If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say?
I LOVED being 16! At that age my friends called me Trendy Fresh (and a few still do to this day) because I was always rocking the newest fashion trends! Although it would have been great to know at that age that I wanted to be a stylist, I truly believe that all of my amazing life experiences, supportive friends and family, and creative fashion choices have led me to this point. I am so happy with where I am today because I always knew I loved the creative aspects of fashion and style. With my life experiences, I was able to realize that helping people feel great about themselves is my true passion, and the ability to combine the two has led to a business I am so proud of!
Your perfect day. What would it look like?
Honestly, a day filled with my awesome clients, making pulls at some of my favorite boutiques across Chicago, and then magically ending the day at my cottage to watch the sunset with friends and family! Can’t get better than that!
