Favorite Karina dress: I like the Audrey dress – great classic style.

What are your every day, must-reads, online or off?
What you put into your brain changes the way you see your world. I read a variety of fashion blogs and keep up to date on local news. I also love the book of Indian Love Poems we gave out at our wedding last year. Rumi is an especially excellent poet.

Hats are an often overlooked accessory.  Where do you wear yours?
I wear my hats to the Saratoga Racecourse, Saratoga Polo, evening events, dinner dates, cocktails, to and from work every day, running errands on the weekend and to church on Sunday. So basically, it is odd to see me without a hat on my head. I’d look half dressed.

What would you say to those who want to wear hats but are feeling a bit shy?
Start with a statement necklace – borrow one from a fashionable friend. Enjoy the feeling of strangers looking at your necklace and appreciating your beauty. If you prefer to stay one of the crowd, perhaps a hat is not for you, and that is perfectly O.K.

Standing out is not for everyone. If you are comfortable with the attention, put your Karina dress on and find a good hat shop, like The Hat Shop in NYC or Saratoga Trunk in Saratoga Springs, and try on hats until you find one that suits you. Expect to invest the same amount in a hat as you would in pair of quality shoes.

If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say?
The more you are doing what makes you happy and not ‘fitting in,’ the more awesome you become, and the right kind of man finds that mesmerizing.

Your perfect day.  What would it look like?
Enjoying time spent with my husband.
