How did you discover Karina Dresses? Through Bella’s blog.
What’s your most recent awesome accomplishment? My most recent professional accomplishment – my husband and I produced a simple short video that explains some of the reasons to buy American. (Editor’s note: you can view it HERE.) It was very well-received and got some press including USAToday, Fast Company online and CNBConline.
Who is your hero? My daughter. My son. My husband. My family inspires me on a constant basis. And I know their future depends on our collective decisions.
Who are your style inspirations? If I had to choose a person, I’d say my grandmother. She was a very stylish, feminine and petite Cuban woman who never left the house not looking great. Her tastes ran similar to mine, classic but feminine. She never met a bow, ruffle or floral pattern she didn’t love. In fact, I’ve even been able to wear some of her dresses from “back in the day.”
Your perfect day. What would it look like? I wake up on beautiful dry sunny day in Boulder and ride bikes down to the Farmer’s Market with my family. We pick out yummy vegetables, delicious cheese and fruit and beautiful flowers. Ride home and make a bright colorful and healthy meal. And we enjoy it all together as the sun sets over the mountains in our backyard.
Why is it important to love our bodies? Because they do so much for us. They deserve our love and appreciation more than we care to think.
If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say? It’s going to be okay.
Do you have a favorite quote? One of my favorite quotes has to do with body issues that I know many women share. For me, as a pretty shy person, it’s not easy to upload a photo of myself to the internet and subject myself to being seen by so many. “Dress the body you have,” I heard Stacy London say one day on the TLC show “What Not to Wear,” and it literally changed my life. Many days I will repeat those words to myself. So many people wait to lose those last five (or ten, fifteen, or whatever) pounds that they end up wasting time. Make yourself look as good as you can today, for today.
