Favorite Karina dress: So far I’m loving the Carolyn
How did you discover Karina Dresses? From a couple fellow bloggers who began reviewing and raving about the product.
What are your every day, must-reads, online or off? Oh gosh… too many to count. I always scroll through my 15-20 favorite blogs of the moment, as well as the NYTimes Style section, Refinery29, Verily Magazine, and then where ever my internet wanderings take me.
What’s you most recent awesome accomplishment?
I ran the Chicago marathon for the second time this past October and managed to finish nearly 30 minutes faster than my previous time. I was pretty thrilled about that.
Who is your hero? I’d have to say my mom. While she doesn’t do anything spectacular or world-renown she is an expert at making every day wonderful. She goes about the task of raising her 9 kids with so much love and dignity that she is a true inspiration for what it means to work hard, work well and love much.
Who are your style inspirations? My celebrity style inspirations includes Victoria Beckham, for her urban chic style; Emma Watson for her modern elegance; and Grace Kelley for her classic femininity. Blog inspirations include Jessica from What I Wore, one of the first to be an OOTD blogger and the first one I ever stumbled upon; Andrea from Blonde Bedhead, that girl can seriously rock the crazy curly blonde hair; and Hallie from Corals and Cognacs, she picked up and moved to NYC on a whim a year ago – talk about crazy awesome! Why is it important to love our bodies?
Each person is unique and wonderful exactly as they were made. Creation is amazing in all its small and big facets. I think it is so important to marvel in the awesomeness of you and your body. The size of the tag or the number of the scale says absolutely nothing about your self worth, I wish more people loved their bodies as they are.
If you could give your 16 year old self advice, what would you say? I would tell myself to appreciate your body and treat it right. As a high school and college student I hated my body and constantly went on from rigid diets to not caring at all. I finally figured out my body needed to be treated right and in turn it would do me right. I started working out and changed the way I ate. Now I’m determined to workout 4-5 times a week and eat much more cleanly. No, I’m never going to be model thin, but I’m much happier and healthier now than I was at 16. I wish I started earlier.
Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it? Fashion quote: “Your dress should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady” Fav life quote: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”
Your perfect day. What would it look like? Wake up rested without an alarm. Throw on a favorite dress and meet a friend for breakfast at some new place I’m dying to try. Shop some local boutiques, finding some truly great items that are unique to the retailers and soon to me. Head home to spend time with my parents and siblings – playing games, eating a homemade meal and laughing riotously.
