Easy Berry Smoothie Recipe

I don’t know about you, but sometimes the mornings are filled with so much chaos, the thought of cooking a breakfast filled with all of the nutrients needed in that most important meal of that day are so daunting. Most mornings, the last thing my kids want to do is sit at the table in an orderly fashion and eat breakfast. They just woke up, they want to play, they want to get ready for the day.. and soon we’ll be embarking on an even crazier routine when my oldest starts kindergarten.

How do I ensure they’re getting a well balanced meal? Smoothies. Green smoothies are a big hit in our house and while I know that’s not always easy to get kids to drink, it’s not as hard as you think. We can hide greens in ways they’ll never know they’re there! Check out this recipe for an Easy Berry Smoothie.. your kids are sure to love! Smoothies are the perfect way to give your kids a healthy breakfast for either at home or on the go (and you can enjoy one too!) It only takes one batch to feed my whole family!

  • Frozen berries of your choice. You can of course use fresh fruit too, but I like frozen, because I can buy big bags of organic in bulk at a fraction of the cost. I also like using frozen berries, because I can get a better consistency without using ice. These ones have blueberries, raspberries, and a few strawberries thrown in.
  • Greens.  If this is your first time making a green smoothie, spinach might be a better choice. You can put a huge fistful of spinach into a smoothie and not even know it’s there (aside from the green color!) I like to switch it up though, because too much of one thing is never good (no matter how healthy it is) so this one has some kale. You can tell from the color, I went a little heavier on the berries this time.. that’s the good about smoothies, if you indulge a little bit, it’s still okay, because they’re healthy!
  • Almond Milk. I like using almond milk in my smoothies, because it has so many health benefits. I don’t like to drink it straight, but I do buy the unsweetened for smoothie and it makes a perfectly healthy combination!
  • Banana. I like to throw a banana in there for a little bit of extra protein!

That’s it! Toss it all in a blender and blend until smooth. Now you have a perfect, refreshing, and healthy breakfast – good for on-the-go families or anyone looking for a quick and easy meal! By adding in the greens, you get your veggies, the fruit, and protein – it will fill you up and you barely have a mess to clean up!
